Amt aims to avoid bankruptcy through restructuring in Genoa

Genoa Vice Mayor Alessandro Terrile has announced a restructuring plan for Amt, the city's public transport company, to prevent bankruptcy. The company is currently facing a severe financial crisis, reporting a loss of 56 million euros in 2024.

Through public contributions from the Municipality and the Region, losses are projected to decrease to 26.4 million euros in 2025. The administration is utilizing a negotiated procedure to manage the crisis and ensure business continuity.

Terrile also emphasized the need for better integration between Amt and Trenitalia. He noted that past disputes between the two entities hindered service integration and stated that future efforts will focus on unified schedules, tariffs, and revenue-sharing mechanisms to improve public transport.
