Amt public transport faces rising costs and union criticism
The Usb labor union has criticized local mayors regarding the rising costs and financial instability of Amt, the public transport provider in Genoa. The union argues that local administrations have failed to prevent the accumulation of over 60 million euros in unpaid compensation for kilometers traveled between 2020 and 2025.
Specific grievances cited by the union include the closure of the Uscio depot, the restructuring of the Chiavari terminus, and the relocation of the Bolzaneto depot. The union claims these decisions have significantly increased fuel costs, logistical risks, and service mileage. Usb is calling for an optimization of services and an immediate freeze on hiring restrictions to stabilize the local transport system.
