ÖAMTC warns of fraudulent fuel-saving product advertisements
The ÖAMTC is warning motorists about fraudulent online advertisements appearing on social media and various websites. These ads promote alleged “fuel-saving miracle products” and falsely claim that the mobility club has tested or recommended them.
To deceive consumers, the advertisements use the ÖAMTC logo, official photographs, and AI-generated images of staff or service stations. Some ads include deceptive phrases such as “We have tested it” to create a false sense of official endorsement. The ÖAMTC has clarified that there is no connection between the club and these products and advises users not to click on the links.
As an alternative to these questionable devices, the ÖAMTC suggests that drivers can reduce fuel consumption through better driving habits. Expert Roland Frisch recommends maintaining a steady speed, driving foresightfully, accelerating gently, and shifting gears early. Additionally, maintaining correct tire pressure and reducing unnecessary vehicle weight, such as removing unused roof boxes, are cited as effective ways to save fuel.
