Amtrak Chair Anthony Coscia outlines rail expansion and new trainsets

Amtrak Board Chair Anthony Coscia has outlined upcoming transformations for the national passenger railroad company. A key component of this modernization is the rollout of 83 new Airo trainsets, designed to provide more reliable and comfortable travel. The deployment began with Amtrak Cascades in September and is expected to expand to Northeast Regional and other major routes through 2027.

To support long-term growth, Amtrak has established a new Board-level System Expansion Committee dedicated to increasing passenger rail service across the country. Additionally, the company is implementing various technology transformation efforts involving investments in data, marketing technology, digital channels, and payment systems to enhance the overall customer experience.
