Çamur Dam begins water retention in Gümüşhane

Water retention operations have commenced at the Çamur Dam in the Kelkit district of Gümüşhane. The project is designed to have a body height of 53 meters and a storage capacity of 12.72 cubic hectometers.

Once fully operational, the dam is expected to irrigate 56,500 decares of agricultural land. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider noted that the project is expected to contribute approximately 1 billion lira annually to the region. Gümüşhane Governor Cevdet Atay emphasized the importance of the investment for local agricultural productivity.
