Amy Acton campaign staff confront activist over debate refusal

Staff members for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton engaged in a confrontation with a Republican activist during a campaign event in Harrison, Ohio. The incident occurred when the activist approached Acton with a camera to ask why she has declined invitations to participate in public debates with her Republican opponent, Vivek Ramaswamy.

Video footage shows Acton’s campaign personnel moving to block the interviewer, repeatedly stating, “No photos, no videos,” and “No pictures, no interviews.” During the exchange, staff members appeared to make contact with the cameraman, causing the device to shift out of frame. Acton did not respond to the questions and walked away from the encounter.

Acton’s campaign has defended her refusal to debate, stating her focus is on speaking with Ohioans rather than platforming Ramaswamy. A campaign spokesperson characterized Ramaswamy as a “scam artist” who spreads “baseless lies” regarding Acton and her family.
