Amy Acton campaign incident leads to arrest of armed man

Patrick Havas, 38, was arrested at the Canfield Fair in Ohio after allegedly forcing his way through a crowd toward Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. During the incident, Havas reportedly knocked two people to the ground.

Authorities stated that Havas was armed with two handguns, a taser, and brass knuckles, but investigators noted that the weapons were never unholstered, brandished, or used during the encounter. Prosecutors suggested Havas appeared to be attempting to ask Acton questions while recording the visit on his cellphone. A search of his device yielded no evidence of threats.

Following his arraignment, Havas pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges including assault, disorderly conduct, and inducing panic. He was released on a $5,000 bond with orders to surrender his weapons and avoid contact with Acton or the individuals he allegedly pushed.
