Amy Klobuchar announces healthcare proposals for Minnesota governorship

Minnesota DFL candidate for governor Amy Klobuchar has announced several healthcare proposals aimed at reducing costs for residents. Her plan includes implementing a state tax credit to assist with health insurance premiums on the public market in the event that federal tax credits are not restored. Additionally, Klobuchar intends to expand state bulk purchasing of prescription drugs to negotiate lower prices and provide more assistance to small businesses seeking to offer health insurance.

In response, the campaign of Lisa Demuth criticized Klobuchar, labeling her a “career politician” and noting that out-of-pocket costs for families have increased significantly during her time in office. The Demuth campaign highlighted her work as House Speaker to maintain Minnesota’s reinsurance program and stated she would continue to support rural hospitals while ensuring healthcare funding is directed away from fraudsters and illegal immigrants.
