Schumer clarified that her weight loss was driven by health necessity rather than aesthetics. She revealed that she had been battling Cushing syndrome, a condition characterized by excess cortisol levels that can cause extreme facial puffiness and other life-threatening complications. She stated on social media that she “did it to survive” and noted that the disease has since cleared.
