Amy Winehouse: Back to Black 20th anniversary celebrated in London

The 20th anniversary of Amy Winehouse’s seminal album, “Back to Black,” was marked by a star-studded tribute concert at London’s Roundhouse. The event, curated by original producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, featured a lineup of guest vocalists including Corinne Bailey Rae, Jorja Smith, Jessie Reyez, and Lianne La Havas. The Amy Winehouse Band, led by the singer’s longtime musical director Dale Davis, accompanied the performers as they reinterpreted the 11 tracks from the 2006 release.

The Roundhouse holds significant meaning for fans, as it was the final venue where Winehouse performed before her death in 2011. The concert concluded with a collective performance of “Valerie.”

To coincide with the anniversary, a deluxe 20th-anniversary edition of the album is being released in various formats. This expanded collection includes rare B-sides, a live concert recorded in Amsterdam in 2007, and four previously unreleased demos, such as early versions of “Back to Black” and “Love Is A Losing Game.” The celebration is set to be broadcast on the BBC as part of wider programming honoring the singer’s legacy.
