An Cung Ngu Hoang Hoan, a traditional medicine often sought for stroke prevention or treatment, is facing scrutiny due to the risks of misuse and counterfeit products. While used in traditional medicine to clear heat, detoxify, and calm convulsions, it is a specific medication rather than a general supplement.

Authorities recently uncovered a ring in Thanh Hoa producing and trading counterfeit An Cung products made from unknown ingredients. Medical experts, including those from 108 Military Central Hospital, have warned against self-administering the medicine during suspected stroke symptoms. In one reported case, a patient experiencing sudden headache, vomiting, difficulty speaking, and hemiplegia was given the medicine by family members before arriving at the hospital, complicating the clinical situation.
