An Giang aims to develop modern marine aquaculture industry

An Giang province is researching policies to establish modern marine aquaculture villages, aiming to transform from traditional methods to organized, technology-driven production. During a scientific workshop regarding sustainable development for the 2026–2030 period with a vision toward 2045, provincial leaders and experts discussed leveraging the region's maritime potential.

An Giang Chairman of the People's Committee, Ho Van Mung, emphasized that the goal is to create a high-productivity, high-value industry capable of adapting to climate change while protecting ecosystems. Experts noted that the province possesses significant maritime advantages, including a coastline exceeding 200 km and a sea area of over 63,000 km².

Key discussions focused on the necessity of moving toward industrial aquaculture. Experts suggested that success depends on "institutional and technological feet," requiring integrated management of maritime space and diverse investment models, such as public-private partnerships (PPP) or foreign investment, to ensure economic, ecological, and security stability.
