An Giang police detain individuals for usury, weapons, and gambling

Police in An Giang province have detained several individuals in connection with separate criminal activities involving usury, illegal weapons, and gambling.

Trần Hùng Hậu (born 1977) is being held for illegal possession of military weapons and high-interest lending. Authorities seized a revolver with six bullets, various knives, pepper spray, and other weapons during a search of his residence. Investigations revealed Hậu lent money to nine people at interest rates ranging from 365% to 730% per year. Hậu has prior convictions for murder and robbery.

In a separate incident, authorities arrested Thái Hành Sơn, Nguyễn Chí Công, and Phạm Văn Em Nhỏ for illegal gambling. The group was caught betting on football matches related to the 2026 World Cup. Initial investigations indicate the total amount used for betting was approximately 39.7 million VND.
