An Giang police detain repeat offender for market theft

An Giang provincial police have issued a decision to criminally detain Nguyen Thi Kieu Nga, born in 1972, for theft.

On September 10, 2026, Nga allegedly entered a fruit stall at Duong Dong market in Phu Quoc. While the owner was distracted by customers, Nga stole a black bag containing over 66 million VND in cash, two gold rings, one gold bracelet, and two gold bangles.

Following an investigation, police identified and questioned Nga, who confessed to the crime and returned the stolen items. Nga is a repeat offender with four prior convictions for theft, having completed a prison sentence in early 2023 without having her criminal record cleared.
