An Giang province announces new rural and economic development plans
An Giang province has introduced a comprehensive restructuring of its socio-economic development space and rural infrastructure for the 2026–2030 period. Following recent administrative reorganizations, the province aims to modernize rural areas through a new set of criteria for National Target Programs. This includes 10 criteria and 47 indicators, featuring new requirements such as private sector development, agricultural data digitization, and AI-powered security cameras.
To ensure effective implementation, the province will categorize its 85 communes into three distinct groups based on their specific conditions and development orientations. This approach allows for tailored infrastructure requirements, ranging from urban-linked communes to those in mountainous or ethnic minority areas. The development roadmap is spread over four years, from 2026 to 2029, to prevent rushed achievements. The total investment involves over 3,060 billion VND from central funds and more than 4,101 billion VND in provincial counterpart capital.
Economically, An Giang is pursuing a multi-layered, multi-polar growth model. The province aims for an average GRDP growth rate of over 11% per year through 2030. Long-term goals through 2045 focus on transitioning to a digital, green, and circular economy, integrating land, sea, and digital spaces to enhance its position within the Mekong Delta.
