An Giang to establish 22 new wards from existing communes

The An Giang Provincial People's Council has approved a resolution to establish 22 new wards by converting existing communes. This administrative restructuring maintains the current natural area and population scale of the affected communes.

The 22 new wards will cover a total natural area of over 2,000 km² and a population exceeding 1.267 million people. Following this change, An Giang province will have a total of 36 wards. Notably, the communes of Ba Chuc and An Phu, which will become wards, are located along the national border.

The decision follows Resolution No. 112/2025/UBTVQH15 regarding administrative unit standards, as all 22 communes met the necessary criteria for ward status. The provincial government noted that these areas possess favorable geographical positions and have seen significant urban development and infrastructure investment in recent years.
