An Phu Interchange underpass closed due to flooding in Ho Chi Minh City

The An Phu Interchange underpass in Ho Chi Minh City has been temporarily closed following heavy rainfall on the evening of September 10, 2026. The flooding affected a significant section of the underpass, with water levels reaching up to the stomach level of an adult in some areas.

The inundation overwhelmed the local drainage system and also flooded the pumping station serving the underpass, complicating removal efforts. Authorities have deployed high-capacity pumps, specialized vehicles, and mud suction trucks to clear the water.

The closure has caused major traffic disruptions, with congestion extending over 2 kilometers as vehicles are diverted to alternative routes, including the overpass toward Vo Nguyen Giap Street. The underpass will remain closed for inspection once drainage and cleanup are complete.
