Vietnam infrastructure projects face progress and delays

Major infrastructure and transportation projects are progressing across Vietnam, though some face delays due to land clearance issues.

In Hanoi, a 2,384 billion VND intersection project connecting Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard is underway. The project includes a 975m underpass and four turbine-style bridge branches, aimed at improving connectivity to the city's western regions.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the An Phu intersection project, a critical gateway to the east, remains incomplete after three years of construction. While some components like the N3 bridge branch and certain underpasses are operational, the N4 branch and sections on Luong Dinh Cua Street are stalled due to land clearance requirements. Authorities have issued plans to recover over 22,000 square meters of land to resolve these bottlenecks.

Additionally, the expansion of Pham Van Bach Street near Tan Son Nhat Airport is only 66% complete after 21 years. Despite much of the road being widened, certain sections remain uneven and obstructed by utility poles and informal commerce due to unresolved site clearance.

Meanwhile, Lien Khuong International Airport is nearing completion of a 1,032 billion VND upgrade. The project involved replacing the asphalt runway with a cement concrete structure to increase load capacity, allowing the airport to accommodate wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
