An Se-young maintains dominance with China Masters victory

World number one badminton player An Se-young continues her dominant run, most recently securing a victory at the China Masters. In the women's singles final, An defeated Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki in straight games, 2-0 (21-17, 21-6), maintaining an 8-0 head-to-head record against the rising Japanese star.

During a media day for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Jincheon National Training Center, An expressed her commitment to maintaining her top ranking. She noted that the emergence of talented young players from Japan and India serves as motivation rather than a threat, stating that she seeks perfection in her training to handle any variables in competition.

An's recent performance includes a 98% win rate this season, with seven titles out of eight tournaments entered. She is currently aiming to become the first Korean singles player to win consecutive gold medals at the Asian Games.
