ANA and JAL announce fuel surcharge increases for late 2026

Major Japanese airlines ANA and JAL/JTA have announced increases to their international fuel surcharges for tickets issued between November 1 and December 31, 2026.

ANA's surcharge will see increases of up to 7,000 yen compared to the previous period. Specific rates include 7,100 yen for South Korea, 38,500 yen for Hawaii, and 62,000 yen for Europe, North America, and Oceania. While market prices suggested a higher tier, ANA applied a lower tier due to government emergency mitigation measures related to Middle East tensions.

JAL and JTA have applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to revise their surcharges based on the average Singapore kerosene market price from August to September 2026. Similar to ANA, JAL/JTA will apply a lower surcharge tier (Zone S) rather than the standard Zone T, utilizing government subsidies intended to mitigate the impact of Middle East geopolitical instability.
