Ana B. Nieto explores Loewe family history in new novel

Author Ana B. Nieto has released a new historical novel, ‘La casa del hilo rojo: La saga de la familia Loewe’, which explores the origins of the luxury brand Loewe. The book focuses on Julia Loewe Hinton, the daughter of founder Heinrich Loewe Roessberg, who was born in Madrid in 1875.

Nieto spent two years researching the family history to highlight Julia’s fundamental role in the company, a figure often overlooked in previous historical accounts. The narrative spans the transition of the brand from a leather workshop in Madrid, established by the German artisan in 1872, to a prestigious house that was granted the title of supplier to the Spanish Crown by Alfonso XIII in 1905.

Today, Loewe is a global luxury powerhouse owned by the LVMH conglomerate. The novel aims to connect the brand's technical German precision with its Spanish craftsmanship through the lens of a modernizing woman at the turn of the century.
