Ana Brnabic claims political hunt for Aleksandar Vucic is underway
Ana Brnabic, an official of the Serbian Progressive Party, has alleged that a “hunt for the arrest” of former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has begun. Her comments follow the victory of the Studentska Lista in recent parliamentary elections.
Brnabic’s claims are a response to legal discussions regarding whether Vucic should be questioned by prosecutors concerning the collapse of a railway station canopy in Novi Sad. Legal experts have suggested that Vucic’s knowledge of the infrastructure project’s reconstruction could warrant an interrogation, though no official arrest warrant has been confirmed by authorities.
Brnabic characterized the situation as “revolutionary terror,” arguing that the objective is not to establish accountability for the tragedy but to politically remove Vucic from public life. She questioned why members of the audit commission responsible for overseeing the project have not been questioned and compared the current scrutiny to the 2004 Charles de Gaulle airport incident in France.
