Ana Lucía Pineda denies using public funds for Paris trip
Colombian First Lady Ana Lucía Pineda has addressed controversies regarding the funding of her recent trip to Paris, France. Pineda stated on social media that she covered all travel expenses with her own personal funds, asserting, “I paid for everything with my own resources. I can go to Paris and anywhere else in the world with my money.”
The controversy arose following a formal request by Senator Alejandro Ocampo of the Pacto Histórico party. Ocampo submitted a petition to the Administrative Department of the Presidency (Dapre) to determine if public resources were used for airfare, accommodation, food, or transportation. The inquiry seeks to clarify if any government entities, private companies, or third parties partially or fully financed the trip.
Pineda’s visit was part of the “Territorios Vivos París 2026” initiative, led by the Association of First Ladies of Colombia (Asodamas) during Paris Fashion Week. The project aimed to showcase Colombian craftsmanship and culture on an international stage, involving approximately 40 artisans from 14 different departments.
