Ana Maria Braga criticizes influencers and discusses personal history
Brazilian television presenter Ana Maria Braga has sparked debate following an interview with Veja magazine, where she criticized the presence of digital influencers in traditional television. Braga described much of the content produced by this group as “superficial and empty,” characterizing it as repetitive “besteirol” (slapstick/nonsense) that lacks substance. She predicted that those offering no real value to viewers will eventually disappear due to irrelevance.
During the same interview, the 77-year-old presenter shared personal reflections, including her past experience with an abortion in her youth. She expressed support for the legalization of the procedure in Brazil, stating that the decision should always belong to the woman and emphasizing her belief in individual freedom.
Additionally, Braga addressed rumors regarding her retirement. Despite being eligible for retirement, she stated she has no intention of leaving her career, noting that she remains motivated by her work and her connection to a diverse audience ranging from Generation Z to seniors.
