Ana Miriam Ferráez promotes child protection against climate change

In Mexico, Federal Deputy Ana Miriam Ferráez Centeno, chair of the Climate Change and Sustainability Commission, is advocating for increased protections for children and adolescents against the impacts of climate change. Leading a forum in coordination with UNICEF titled ‘Building a Resilient Future: Childhood and Climate Change in Mexico’, Ferráez Centeno emphasized the need to incorporate the perspectives of younger generations into public decision-making.

Deputy Joaquín Zebadúa Alva noted that extreme weather, droughts, and crop damage are already affecting vulnerable populations. He is currently working on an initiative to reform the General Law on Climate Change to explicitly include the rights of children and adolescents.
