Ana Navarro cites Florida closed primaries for remaining a Republican

During a broadcast of ‘The View’, co-host Ana Navarro explained that she remains a registered Republican primarily due to Florida’s closed primary system. Responding to a question from actor Michael Douglas regarding why she has not registered as an independent despite her frequent criticisms of Donald Trump, Navarro stated that staying in the party allows her to participate in primaries to vote against candidates she opposes.

Navarro, who supported Kamala Harris in the last presidential race and hosted coverage at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, described herself as an ‘old-fashioned Republican’ who supports free trade and strong foreign policy. She pushed back against criticisms regarding her political consistency, arguing that those who share Donald Trump’s views do not represent a traditional Republican identity.
