ANAC initiates sanctions against Vibo Valentia provincial leadership

The Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) has initiated a sanctioning procedure against the political leadership of the Province of Vibo Valentia. The action follows an official audit conducted on September 30, 2026, which revealed failures to comply with transparency and corruption prevention regulations.

Specifically, the Authority found that the institutional website lacked the required “Corruptive Risks and Transparency” subsection of the Integrated Activity and Organization Plan (PIAO) for the 2026-2028 period, as well as for previous years. Additionally, the site failed to identify the person responsible for corruption prevention and transparency (RPCT).

The procedure targets members of the provincial political leadership, including former President Corrado Antonio L’Andolina and current Vice President Franco Barbalace, along with several provincial councilors. The subjects have been given 10 days to provide documentation of the plan's adoption or explain the reasons for the omission.
