ANAC raises airport tariffs across Brazil, boosting airline costs

Brazil's civil aviation regulator, the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC), approved an annual update to airport tariffs for the country's main hubs, including São Paulo–Guarulhos, Viracopos/Campinas, Rio de Janeiro–Galeão and Belo Horizonte–Confins. The fee adjustments range from 4.74% at Confins to 6.27% at Guarulhos, reflecting a mix of official inflation and productivity factors stipulated in each concession contract.

A separate decision raised Brasília International Airport’s fees by 5.14%, setting the domestic boarding charge at R$34.55, the international charge at R$74.78 and the connection fee at R$15.92 per passenger. The higher tariffs affect landing, parking, handling and storage charges that airlines and logistics operators use as cost references. Combined with pressures from jet‑fuel prices, a stronger dollar and slim profit margins, the increases are expected to be passed on to passengers through higher ticket prices nationwide.
