ANAF pursues €940,000 debt recovery from Klaus Iohannis
The Romanian National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) is continuing legal efforts to recover approximately 4.7 million lei (around €940,000) from former President Klaus Iohannis and his wife, Carmen Iohannis.
The debt stems from rental income collected over 17 years from a property in Sibiu, which was subsequently lost in court. The requested amount includes unpaid rents, interest, and penalties.
ANAF head Adrian Nica stated that the agency will utilize all available legal instruments to recover the funds, emphasizing that the institution must apply the same rules to all taxpayers regardless of their status. Although a previous attempt to place an attachment on the family's assets was rejected, Nica confirmed that the legal process remains ongoing.
