Romania launches transparency portal for state company salaries

The Romanian Government has launched the 'guvernanta.gov.ro' digital portal to increase transparency regarding the management of 121 state-owned companies. Initiated by Vice-Premier Oana Gheorghiu, the platform provides public access to over 1,350 documents, including CVs, mandate contracts, and salary details for leadership teams.

Data from the portal reveals significant findings: over 100 individuals hold at least two positions simultaneously across 98 companies. High-level remunerations are notable, with one individual, Bogdan Stelian Mîndrescu, earning a combined gross monthly income of 134,146 lei through three different roles. Other executives earn between 5,000 and 20,000 euros monthly.

In a separate political development, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) met with representatives from Standard & Poor’s to express its readiness to assume government leadership. The party emphasized its commitment to fiscal consolidation, economic stimulation, and improved tax collection to ensure political stability ahead of upcoming sovereign credit rating evaluations.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education has approved regulations for 2026 allowing state education employees with net monthly salaries up to 6,000 lei to receive 800 lei holiday vouchers. Applications must be submitted to employers by October 24, 2026.
