Anafre announces nationwide parish service shutdown for November 4

The National Association of Parishes (Anafre) has announced a nationwide strike scheduled for November 4 if its demands regarding the 2027 State Budget are not met. The protest will involve the closure of all parish services across the country, including both administrative assistance and all associated services.

Francisco Branco de Brito, following an extraordinary meeting of Anafre's Board of Directors, stated that the action aims to demonstrate the dissatisfaction of local parishes and highlight their societal impact. He expressed concern that the current budget proposal suggests the Ministry of Finance does not view parishes as important.

Key demands include a 1% increase in the state revenue calculation base for parishes, moving from the current 2.5% to 3.5%, as previously discussed in a tripartite political agreement. The association is seeking guarantees from political parties during the budget's specialty debate to ensure these requirements are included.
