Anagé school death investigation: 5-year-old boy dies in Bahia

A five-year-old boy, Samuel Santos Reis, died after falling ill at the Pedro Álvares Cabral Municipal School in Anagé, located in southwestern Bahia, Brazil. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 17.

According to reports, the child began experiencing symptoms including vomiting and nasal bleeding while at the school. A teacher provided first aid and transported him to the Anagé Municipal Hospital, but he did not survive. His family stated that he showed no signs of illness when leaving home for school.

The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances of the death. The child's body was sent to the Technical Police Department (DPT) in Vitória da Conquista for forensic and laboratory examinations to determine the cause of death.

The Bahia State Health Secretariat (Sesab) is monitoring the situation through the Southwest Regional Health Nucleus and Epidemiological Surveillance. The Anagé Municipal Education Secretariat expressed solidarity with the family and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
