Anagni residents protest synthetic grass installation in urban flowerbeds
In Anagni, a recent maintenance project on Viale Regina Margherita has sparked local controversy. The intervention involved installing synthetic grass and concrete in flowerbeds surrounding eight trees at the city entrance.
Local community groups, including LiberAnagni and the Coordination ‘Difendiamo La Valle’, have criticized the move, citing potential risks to plant health and the waste of public funds. In response, Vice Mayor Riccardo Ambrosetti defended the decision, stating that the use of synthetic grass is a strategic choice to conserve water and reduce maintenance costs. He argued that the artificial turf prevents the damage caused by pedestrians frequently walking through the beds and protects irrigation systems.
