Anahat Singh eliminated in London Squash Classic quarterfinals

Indian squash player Anahat Singh, the reigning world junior champion, was eliminated from the London Squash Classic in the women’s quarterfinals. Singh lost to Malaysia’s third seed, Sivasangari Subramaniam, in a decisive 11-4, 11-4 match that lasted only 17 minutes.

Prior to this defeat, the 18-year-old Singh had reached the quarterfinals by defeating eighth-seeded Belgian player Nele Gilis in a three-game match. The London Squash Classic is a USD 144,000 PSA Gold event.

Subramaniam, the world No. 5, advances to the semifinals to face second-seeded Egyptian Amina Orfi. Singh is scheduled to compete in the Qatar Classic starting September 12 as she prepares for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, where squash will be a key competition for Olympic qualification.
