Yusuf Talha Çanlı dies after alleged insecticide poisoning in Çanakkale, suspects arrested

A 9‑year‑old boy, Yusuf Talha Çanlı, was found unconscious at his home in Çanakkale after a neighboring apartment was sprayed with insecticide. He was taken first to Mehmet Akif Ersoy State Hospital, then to Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Hospital, where poisoning was confirmed. His condition worsened and he was air‑lifted to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul, but died despite intensive treatment. His mother, Sevda Çanlı, remains in intensive care. Turkish prosecutors opened an investigation; the owner of the sprayed apartment (identified as Z. B.) and a senior official of the pest‑control company (O. E.) were detained and later arrested, while another employee was released under judicial control. The family held a funeral at Dumlupınar Mosque and buried Yusuf in Bozköy, Geyikli district. The case has drawn attention to the risks of domestic chemical use.
