Çanakkale State Hospital advances oncology research and neurology services
Medical developments and staffing updates have been reported at the Çanakkale Mehmet Akif Ersoy State Hospital in Turkey.
A joint oncology research project between the hospital and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University has received funding from the Turkish Institutes of Health (TÜSEB) under the TÜSEB-A4 program. Led by oncology specialist Dr. Şeyma Eroğlu, the study aims to investigate molecular mechanisms to overcome temozolomide resistance in glioblastoma cell lines using combined miRNA applications. The research focuses on addressing chemotherapy resistance in this aggressive type of brain tumor.
Additionally, the hospital has expanded its neurological services with the appointment of experienced neurologist Dr. Bekir Özkaya. Dr. Özkaya, an Aegean University medical graduate, will provide diagnosis and treatment for conditions including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s, aiming to strengthen healthcare access in the Çanakkale region.
