Çanakkale Strait Swimming Race to feature 1,535 participants

The 39th International Çanakkale Strait Swimming Race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Organized by the Çanakkale Rotary Club, the event will feature 1,535 participants, consisting of 1,280 domestic and 255 international swimmers.

The race course covers approximately 5 kilometers, starting from Eceabat Maydos Beach on the European side and finishing at Gestaş İskele Square on the Anatolian side. Participants are allotted 105 minutes to complete the course.

To ensure athlete safety, maritime traffic will be regulated between Kilitbahir and Nara Burnu. Ferry services on the Çanakkale-Eceabat and Çanakkale-Kilitbahir lines will be temporarily suspended from 08:00 to 11:00. Regular service will only resume once authorities confirm that all swimmers have cleared the water.

The event has drawn significant international interest, including a delegation of 120 Russian swimmers, 50 of whom are professionals.
