Çanakkale to host inaugural ŠKODA Gran Fondo cycling race
The inaugural ŠKODA Çanakkale Gran Fondo is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 4, in Çanakkale, Turkey. Organized by the Turkish National Olympic Committee, the event is expected to host approximately 1,000 cyclists.
The race features two distinct routes: a long course of 112.75 kilometers with 834 meters of elevation gain, and a short course of 77.31 kilometers with 513 meters of elevation gain. The route offers a unique experience where participants will pedal across two continents. Starting from Çanakkale Cumhuriyet Square, cyclists will use a ferry to cross the Çanakkale Strait to the European side. They will then ride through the Gallipoli Peninsula, including areas such as Eceabat, Kilitbahir, and Alçıtepe, before crossing the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge back to the Asian side to reach the finish line.
Registration for the event remains open until September 30.
