Analdex calls for trade flexibility following Colombia earthquake

Following a severe earthquake on August 10, the National Association of Foreign Trade (Analdex) has called for operational flexibility in Colombia's logistics and trade sectors. The seismic event heavily impacted regions including Buenaventura, Cali, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Quindío, Caldas, Chocó, and Cauca, causing housing emergencies and significant transport restrictions.

Analdex noted that road closures, such as the Buenaventura-Loboguero-Buga corridor, and the preventive suspension of port terminals make it impossible to maintain standard deadlines and requirements for companies in affected areas. The association urged that the national disaster declaration be met with measures to prevent additional costs and pressures on businesses and workers.

In response to the emergency, Analdex has deployed heavy machinery, including hydraulic jacks and excavators, to assist in search and rescue operations. The organization is also coordinating structural engineers and managing donations while monitoring infrastructure status with state entities.
