Analicia Chaves arrested in North Carolina on felony drug charges
Analicia Chaves, known as Ana Montana, was arrested in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, on multiple criminal charges involving prescription medication. Chaves, the mother of NBA player LaMelo Ball’s son, faces two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery, as well as two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.
The allegations involve alprazolam, the generic name for Xanax. According to arrest warrants, Chaves allegedly used a doctor’s stolen Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and medical provider identification numbers to obtain prescriptions at a Walgreens pharmacy on February 21.
An attorney for Chaves stated that the charges allege a doctor used fraudulent credentials to write the prescriptions, which Chaves then used to obtain the medication at a pharmacy. Chaves was reportedly held on a $20,000 bond in connection with the felony charges.
