Analog Devices to acquire Alif Semiconductor for $1.35 billion
Analog Devices (ADI) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Alif Semiconductor for $1.35 billion in cash, with the potential for an additional $200 million based on certain conditions. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
Alif Semiconductor, a California-based company founded in 2019, specializes in developing microcontrollers and fusion processors designed for edge AI. Their technology utilizes heterogeneous architectures that integrate Neural Processing Units (NPUs) and graphics acceleration to enable low-latency AI inference and real-time sensor data integration.
Through this acquisition, ADI aims to bolster its capabilities in ‘physical intelligence’—the ability for systems to sense, reason, and act in real-time within the physical world. By combining Alif’s digital processing and AI capabilities with ADI’s expertise in sensing, signal processing, power management, and connectivity, ADI intends to provide comprehensive solutions for industries including robotics, industrial equipment, defense, energy, and digital health.
