Analyst claims U.S. erred in Middle East by following Ukraine scenario

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor has criticized United States policy in the Middle East, suggesting the U.S. made an error by following a strategic pattern similar to that of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Macgregor characterized both Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as being in desperate positions. He noted that Zelensky is facing a depletion of funds, personnel, and time, which may lead him to provoke larger conflicts.

The analysis comes amid ongoing instability in the region. Following attacks on Iranian targets by the U.S. and Israel in February, and a subsequent memorandum regarding the end of hostilities in June, tensions between Tehran and Washington have resurfaced, leaving the conflict unresolved.
