Bitcoin and institutional ETF inflows drive crypto market shifts
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing significant shifts driven by institutional involvement and changing investor profiles. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $2.42 billion in net inflows over a six-day period ending September 28, despite a recent slowdown in daily momentum. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust led recent activity with $54.84 million in inflows, while Grayscale saw mixed results between its Mini Trust and GBTC funds.
Analysts suggest the current Bitcoin bull cycle may differ from previous years due to the transition from retail to institutional buyers, such as corporations and spot ETFs. Benson Sun noted that traditional indicators might be less extreme as institutions utilize spot markets and delta-neutral strategies. Other market experts, including Peter Brandt and Matt Cole, have provided varying long-term price projections, with Cole eyeing $500,000 by 2030 and Brandt predicting a range between $300,000 and $600,000 by 2029.
In the altcoin sector, Bitwise has continued to expand its Solana holdings, with its Solana ETF attracting over $9.65 million in fresh capital despite price fluctuations. Meanwhile, broader market volatility has been influenced by geopolitical tensions and Federal Reserve policy expectations, contributing to recent price pullbacks in Bitcoin and major altcoins like Ether and Solana.
