Anamarija Lampic announces pregnancy, missing biathlon season

Slovenian biathlete Anamarija Lampic has announced her pregnancy, marking another high-profile maternity leave in the sport. Lampic shared the news on social media alongside her partner, Bostjan Klavzar, noting that “this year the season will be a little different.”

Lampic, a former successful cross-country skier who transitioned to biathlon after the 2022 Winter Olympics, will miss the upcoming season. She joins Swedish Olympic champion Hanna Öberg, who also announced her pregnancy in July. Both athletes are among the fastest competitors in the circuit, and their absence will impact the upcoming World Cup season starting in Kontiolahti, Finland.
