Anambah to Branxton Structure Plan enters public comment phase
The Anambah to Branxton Structure Plan, a joint initiative by the Singleton, Maitland, and Cessnock councils, is undergoing public review. The plan outlines development for a 15,000-hectare growth corridor intended to accommodate approximately 68,150 new homes across 14 precincts over the next 20 to 40 years.
Proposed infrastructure includes eight new primary schools, four high schools, two new rail stations, and the relocation of the Greta Railway Station to the south. The plan also features a transport strategy aimed at passenger rail improvements.
The community group ‘Two More Trains for Singleton’ has submitted a response to the draft plan. The group argues that the proposed urban development should only proceed if existing passenger rail services are substantially improved first, rather than waiting for the future upgrades outlined in the current documents.
