Anambra Governor Charles Soludo pushes regional collaboration and Made‑in‑Nigeria drive at Delta Summit

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State called for a coordinated partnership among Nigeria’s federal government, the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and local governments to accelerate development. Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, he urged that investment become a habit rather than a one‑off event and promoted the wearing of locally made Akwete fabric, saying widespread adoption could create over ten million jobs.

Soludo announced plans for an economic free‑trade zone anchored by an aerotropolis in Anambra and declared that the recent Monday sit‑at‑home protests in the South‑East had ended. He noted that his administration had not taken new loans and had declined a World Bank loan to limit foreign‑exchange exposure, while Nigeria’s foreign‑exchange reserves had risen sharply to about $52 billion. World Trade Organization Director‑General Ngozi Okonjo‑Iweala also called for greater diversification and digital‑infrastructure investment at the summit.
