Anambra Police arrest two suspects for stealing professor's car

Anambra State Police have arrested two suspects, Umeh Thankgod, 32, and Sunday Ozor, 24, following the theft of a vehicle belonging to a 90-year-old retired professor from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The blue Toyota Camry was recovered at the Old Spare Parts Market in Mgbuka, Obosi, after the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) detected registration irregularities during a routine verification exercise in Awka. The FRSC alerted the police, leading to the intervention by the State Intelligence Department.

Preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle was stolen from the professor's compound on September 29, 2026. The victim alleged that his gateman, Bassey Etim, assisted in the theft and is currently at large. Police efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect are ongoing.
