Anambra Police Chief Orutugu Ikioye Retires After Distinguished Service

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo marked the retirement of Assistant Inspector‑General of Police Orutugu Ikioye as a historic first, noting that the 60‑year‑old officer is the first to retire while in active service. Soludo praised Ikioye’s contributions to improving security in the state and highlighted the ceremonial executive‑council session held in Awka to honor him.

Following his retirement, Ikioye began a thank‑you tour across the state, starting with a visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty Igwe Gibson Nwosu of Awka. He thanked the traditional ruler and the people of Anambra for their support, emphasizing the role of community collaboration in sustaining public safety. The monarch congratulated Ikioye on his promotion to Assistant Inspector‑General and wished him success in his new responsibilities within the Nigeria Police Force.
