Anambra SSG clarifies role in purported fake federal agency

Chiamaka Nnake, the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, has issued a clarification regarding her involvement with the “Made-in-Nigeria Agency,” which the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has identified as a fake federal entity.

Nnake stated that her role was strictly limited to being an officially nominated State Focal Person. She explained that the engagement began in January 2026 after the Anambra State Governor received a letter from the organization claiming to operate under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Following this communication, the Governor nominated Nnake in February 2026.

Nnake noted that her interactions were confined to official communications, including a WhatsApp group for focal persons from all 36 states and preparations for a South East Made-in-Nigeria Fair scheduled for December 2026. She emphasized that the state government had no reason to suspect the agency was illegitimate at the time and maintained that she has no connection to any activities or claims attributed to the office beyond these official interactions.
