Anambra State announces third airport plans and 2027 budget strategy
The Anambra State Government has announced long-term development plans focused on infrastructure and fiscal planning under its Vision 2070 framework. As part of this strategy, the state is planning the development of a third airport. Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Okey Ezeobi, stated that efforts are underway to secure land for the facility to accommodate future population growth and increasing demand for air transportation. This follows the ongoing construction of the state’s second airport.
In a separate move toward fiscal management, the state has pledged to integrate citizen priorities into the 2027 budget. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Chukwukadibia Okoye, announced that stakeholder submissions from the 2027 Budget Consultative Forum will be reviewed for inclusion in the proposed budget estimates. The budget aims to align with Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s ‘Solution Agenda,’ prioritizing infrastructure, education, primary healthcare, digital skills, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
